History of Hidden Hills
Before Hidden Hills was an upscale, gated community in the rolling hills of southern Ellis County, it was a turkey farm. The land was owned and operated by the Len Sullivan Family to raise and process turkeys for families all over the State of Texas (you may even see a stray, now wild, turkey run through the neighborhood on occasion). When Mr. Sullivan became too old to care for the property, he made the decision to sell it to the North Texas District Council of the Assemblies of God (the District), who already owned Lakeview Camp and Retreat Center (the Camp) off of FM 66.
The District later decided to move their headquarters to a portion of the land purchased from the Sullivan Family and enter into a partnership with Maypearl Hidden Hills to develop upscale residential lots in the hidden area around the land’s pond. The District agreed to the project with the understanding that once Hidden Hills recovers its development costs, it will begin to pay them for the land (approx. 100 acres). The money from the sale of the land to Hidden Hills would then be used to help pay for the new District headquarters building. The District uses the new headquarters building to lead, train, and encourage it’s more than 1,700 credentialed ministers serving almost 600 churches in the North Texas area as well as facilitate, develop and plant new churches in North Texas. As a result, with the purchase of each lot in Hidden Hills, the homeowners have an opportunity to not only experience country living at its best but also help churches minister in communities all over North Texas.
